Eierlikör, or Advocaat if you prefer, is a famous, festive European egg liqueur. It was brought to Europe by the Dutch from South America and was originally made with avocados. They were replaced with eggs while trying to replicate the taste. Here is a version from a vintage Burda magazine that is made in my family for years.
Egg Liqueur
150 ml dark rum
150 ml heavy cream (35% milk fat)
250 g powdered sugar
5 egg yolks
juice of a quarter of a lemon
Place all the ingredients in a blender and mix until combined. Keep in the fridge.
Makes a little more than 500 ml.
This recipe was published in Meze magazine, December 2013 issue.

I love eierlikör. Both Tom and me sneak a shot on our ice-creams hehehe!I’ve always wanted to try this at home. Thanks for the recipe!
The bottle looks so festive. My imagination conjures up a woman in formal gown, with her hip jutting to the side, wearing a big fir muffler.
Merry Christmas! Thank you for the divine Eierlikor recipe. Now have to find a lovely bottle
