Fancy Potatoes

Fancy Potatoes

For a long time I’ve been wanting to taste caviar. Now that I did, I have no idea why it is valued so much. I wonder what do you think?

These potatoes are perfect winter food and if you ask me, I’d top them with some crispy bacon.

Potatoes Baked in a Foil

4 white potatoes (about 200 g each)
200 g smetana (or sour cream)
melted butter
salt
crushed black pepper
fresh dill
salmon caviar

Wash potatoes thoroughly. Wipe them with a kitchen cloth and then spread melted butter over them with a pastry brush. Wrap each into aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven on 225°C for about 40 minutes. Check with a toothpick if they’re done.

Place each parcel into a bowl, unwrap and make two cuts in the shape of a cross on top of each potato. Move the potato skin a little and place a spoonful of smetana on potato. Season with salt and pepper to taste and top with caviar and dill.

Note: This is a recipe from Sale & Peppe Serbian issue for November 2007.

Coming from the caviar-land, I love caviar, but not that red one which is salmon caviar, I love the black one, which is ossetra caviar, and it is indigenous to the Caspian sea, where Azerbaijan is. Black caviar is absolutely delicious. Have you tried it? I'll treat it to you when you come to Azerbaijan:) Baked potatoes are my favorites. With smetana on top, must be very delicious! Thanks for the recipe.

obozavam ovako pripremljen krumpir (bez kavijara) i najvise mi ide uz jedan krvavi steak, a volim i kavijar tako da si me pogodila u zicu :))fotka je fenomenalna:)

Potatoes are DEFINITELY perfect this time of year – so comforting.Caviar = it's a delicacy that EVERYONE wants to try. Therefore it's overrated, I agree, haha.

I'm not big on salmon caviar either. I think it's so appraised because of its monetary and nutritional values. As for the taste, it's just incredibly salty and that's pretty much it.Black caviar is a different story though.: )

I like caviar especially as a sushi topping. As for caviar as a main ingredient it is not bad in my opinion, but not possible to eat more than 2 or 3 bouchees really, cos it is really heavy, for me at least. Expensive probably because the production is a long process and it is seasonal from what I know. Makes it a rarity.

O I so think that caviar is highly overrated!! To me it tastes like nothing… I can't find why it would be popular! Bacon would be fantastic with the potatoes and much more then the caviar I am sure!

yes bacon makes evrything better.as for caviar i can take it or leave it, just make sure you eat your "allotted amount" at a party (a joke from a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode have you seen it?)Thanks for the recipe!

Andfrea, ovaj krompir je sve samo ne obican, a Marija ga je stilizovala za 10. Ekstra je fotka, stvarno, a i boje su, za moj ukus, jako dobro iskombinovane.
