Mushroom Fantasy

Mushroom Fantasy
Another dish for the FBI Rukavice event, created by mamajac of Cooks and Bakes. What can I say… I am in love with Gaga’s blog, and this is not the last post related to this event. Oh yeah, I made another cake! If you liked Torte Egyptian, wait until you see the one that is sitting in my fridge ;) Until I slice and photograph it, here is our yesterday’s lunch:

Mushroom Fantasy
(original recipe by Marija Petković)

500 g boneless, skinless chicken fillets, cut into steaks
Vegeta seasoning (if you can find Vegeta Twist for chiken, even better)
100 g ham
100 g Trappist cheese
2 small onions, finely chopped
450 g button mushrooms, sliced thin
2 Tbsp flour
150 ml water
5 cloves garlic, finely chopped
180 g sour cream (20% milk fat)
dried chives (finely chopped parsley or any other herb of your choice)
ground black pepper to taste

Mushroom Fantasy

Flatten the meat and sprinkle with Vegeta seasoning. Place one slice of cheese on each steak, follow with ham, roll and pin on with a toothpick. Fry on a very little oil, on a non stick pan, until it’s almost done. Let cool completely. After it’s cooled, remove toothpicks and cut into 1 cm thick slices.

Fry onions on a little oil. Add mushrooms and continue to fry until water that comes out of the mushrooms completely evaporates. Remove from heat, add flour and water, and return to the low heat. Stir continuously and work quickly. When it thickens, add 1 Tbsp Vegeta, garlic, pepper and sour cream. Pour this in a baking vessel, place chicken roll slices in top and sprinkle with chives. Bake on 200°C for about 10-15 minutes.
