Finally! I am a Daring Baker! And for my first challenge – it’s Julia Child’s French Bread from Mastering the Art of French Cooking, volume 2. Fifteen pages of recipe and I’ve only baked bread once before. I even went to our country house, cause that’s where the good oven is. I calculated that if I started at 2 am the bread would probably finished at around noon and I’ll have good light for taking pictures. But, alas, the outside temperature was -7°C, and maintaining proper room temperature using stove was extremely difficult. So, naturally, I had problems with the rises. But bread tasted great, it reminded me of Bosnian somun.

Congratulations on your first challenge!! Great job and welcome to the Daring Bakers!!
I cannot imagine trying to bake at 2am let alone at -7 degrees. Great job being a Daring Baker! Welcome!
Excellent looking bread – I especially like the boule!
Your first challenge and you did it twice! Great job!!
Do you have a link to the Bosnian bread you mention? Nice job!
Unfortunately, I don’t have a link, but I promise, will ask around among my friends if anybody has the recipe. Here in Serbia every fast food has somun. They put inside pljeskavica. It’s a Bosnian version of a burger and a favorite all around countries of former Yugoslavia. Will post about that soon. And thank you all for visiting my blog :))
