Here are a few photos from The Serbian Ethno Food Festival that I went to yesterday.
Dried and smoked meat products – sausages, prosciutto, kulen, sudžuk… by Zlatiborac.
The mushy thing on the right is Žmjare, Vlachs’ dish made of corn meal, leek and sheep meat cook for a very long time. Tastes fantastic and looks like melted cheddar.
Dried red peppers ready for stuffing and some hot pepper flakes. Mostly produced in the southern Serbia, around Leskovac city.

Mirjana Hemun from Banstol and her “Jumpy salad” (“Skočko salata”).
On the left is Hurka from Vojvodina. Made similar to švargla, but with rice.
On the left: Vlachs’ variation of krvavica; On the right: baked pumpkin stuffed with walnuts.
Ladies with the golden hands. A group from Ljig who made all the beautiful food below.
Pickles stuffed with red hot pepper and baked apples stuffed with walnuts.
Proja and sarma. There is a good recipe for projara (which is proja with cheese in it) on Café Chocolada.
And some of the goodies I brought home: rolled cheese with walnuts and chives and quince cheese.

Why wasn't this festival on when I was there about two months ago! Your photos are stunning and I simply cannot choose what I like best. Maybe it's a good thing I wasn't there otherwise I would have spent way too much money. The Ajvar looks sensational. Too much choice of so many beautiful foods. Thanks for posting.

Jako volim ove tvoje reportažne postove!Doslovce bi zagrizla u ekran! :)A osim toga, budi nostalgiju….ove godine je punih 20 godina od mojeg zadnjeg posjeta Beogradu i sad već opako nedostaje, čak me i dijete pitalo: Mama, hoćemo jednom ići u Beograd?, a nekad mi je bilo pod normalno i redovno! :)) Sad imam tremu…..tko zna hoćemo li se jedno drugom nakon toliko godina ponovo svidjeti? ;))

Yum! I love seeing the pictures of all these interesting foods. I particularly love gingerbread–I haven't had the Serbian variety but I have had other Slavic/Austrian versions. So delicious!

Prekrasne fotografije. Ovakve stvari volim, ali najčešće me razočara ponuda i prezentacija, jer vjerovatnmo očekujem previše. "La Paste"? Koji naziv! Nisu li mogli smisliti nešto u skladu sa tradicijom?Za taj vlaški specijalitet od projinog brašna nisam čula. Pravila sam nešto što tako izgleda, a pravi se da se kukuruzno barašno prvo propeče, a zatim prelije vrućom vodom, doda mast i nastavi kuhati. na kraju se dodaje kačkavalj i feta.
Cosmo slazem se skroz Ono sto je mene odusevilo jeste to da je ministarstvo po prvi put dalo standove izlagacima besplatno i zato smo imali prilike da vidimo mnoge koje inace drugacije ne bismo mogli.Ince, i ja sam prvi put sada videla ovo vlasko jelo, a ukus me odusevio.
Predivne slike. Napisite, molim vas, mjesto i vrijeme ovog festivala tj. gdje i kada se odrzava, da ne propustim iduce godine. Isto tako, ako neko zna dobre festivale etno-hrane u Bg-u, please javite.
@oko.okano – Festival je bio 26.11. – 28. 11. i to je i okvirno vreme i za sledecu godinu. Ne verujem da ce se znati tacno do par meseci unapred za sledecu godinu (i to je i slucaj sa svim takvim zbivanjima). Ono sto znam da ce uskoro biti (ali ne u Bg-u) je Slaninijada u Kacarevu i Kobasicijada u Turiji, oba u februaru).
