Missing Review and a Thought on Monopoly

Restaurant Cantina de Frida

In our effort to write honest and realistic reviews of Belgrade restaurants, me and my friend Ana visited another Belgrade restaurant – Cantina de Frida. But, during our meal, we were harshly and rude asked to stop taking photos because there is only one photographer who is allowed to take photos inside this restaurant, so unfortunately, we are not able to share our review of this restaurant with you.

Talk about monopoly, ha?

Did you guys have similar experiences in restaurants? What do you think about this?

Pozdrav!

This is so Balkan! We continually had this sort of experience in Macedonia, people haven’t embraced or even come to terms with the fact that these days information about restaurants/businesses is spread by word of mouth and that having your restaurant reviewed by a blogger can be a really great thing! There were a few times in Skopje where we came across great businesses we wanted to highlight, but the restaurant didn’t allow any photos. Love your restaurant reviews though, I always forward them to friends in Belgrade! :)

I don’t quite write restaurant reviews, but I do like to take photos of my meals (especially if they’re good) and nobody has ever stopped me. A few frowned upon it, but did not say anything.
However, I can understand both your frustration and their attitude. When you know food blogging, you also know how many terrible pictures (of otherwise excellently looking meals) you get to see. And it might turn into bad publicity, even if the article is a good review. We all look first at the pictures, don’t we? :)
P.S. Weird choice this article, but I have meant to tell you, for a long time, that I really like what you do/cook – printed almost all your recipes, tried the few I dared and joined the DK.
